It's time I introduce myself

Hi, my name is Misty, and I am a long time lurker.  I am in Akron, IN.  and I have been a member of OH for a while.  I have been trying to have RNY for about 5 years now.  I have had 3 different insurance companies over these years,  tried Voc. Rehab and now....finally......I have insurance that covers surgery.  I am over the moon.   I am 5'1" and weigh now 265, but was at my highest weight this year at 280.  I don't know how I have lost down to 265, as nothing has really changed, but I'm happy to be losing somthing at least.   I should tell you a little about myself I suppose.  I'm 32 years old and I am married to a wonderful man and my high school sweetie, Brad for 15 years now.   We have 3 girls Hallie 14, Caitlyn 11, & Aleigha 8.  I have been trying to go to school to become a nurse since 2003, but things keep getting off track because of my issues with my weight and such.  I am hoping and praying to get surgery very soon so I can finish, (only 1 year left) and become a nurse. We were just able to take out insurance from Brads employer this month and it covers surgery.  I am going to post the criteria they gave me on my profile sometime tonight for those that may have the same company, Great West Healthcare.   Now that I am excited about the chances of my having surgery, I am so excited about it once again and have been reading on here ever since I found out I may finially have it.  I have some questions I need to ask about the insurance, but I will put that in another post. I feel like I know all of you already just from how much I have been reading lately.  All of your posts and stories have inspired me so much.  Not just those on the Indiana board here but others as well.  I just feel it's nice to talk to some folks a little close to home. 

Welcome to the board, Misty.  Sounds like you are really committed to making a change.   Hopefully now that the insurance is falling into place, things will move quickly for you.  You'll do great!

Welcome Misty, so glad you came out of lurkdom..  i was about the same size as you, i am 5'1 1/2" and weighed 278 lb the day i went to my siminar. i lost a little just before my surgery,   I had surgery almost 23 months ago and i have lost 142 lb.  I was wearing size 22/24 and now i am wearing a 6/8 ... its been such an awesome journey.  I had Dr. Huse from Carmel and I had open RNY. Dr. Huse was great, i loved him. i have even had surgery with him sinse that, i liked him that much.  I live in Southern Indiana and finally made it to a clothing exchange in Aug.  it was lots of fun to finally meet some of the folks from the board.   I hope you continue to post and ask questions all you want. thats why we are all here. Who is your Dr?  Where will you have surgery?  Well once again, Welcome, so glad you posted.  Hugs, Carla

Hi Carla nice to meet you. I am not sure who my doctor will be yet, but I am having surgery at St. Vincents.  I have great confidence in all the surgeons there from what I have read and researched here.

HI!! I had Dr Cacucci at St V Carmel and just love her!! I  WAS 304.. 59 inches around and 63 inches tall!!  I was round.. I have gone from a size32 to a size 16.. YOU can do it!!! Linda Kay
